I'm not exactly sure how you would have accomplished it in a concert setting, but the direction of the light is what bugs me. It highlights his shoulders, and the top of his head, but leaves his face and neck looking dark and a little dull.

Having one of those big fill cards handy would let you reflect some of the natural light back onto his face, which would look better in my opinion. Or maybe just using the camera's flash would have helped lighten up the shadows on his face. Unfortunately I've still got quite a bit of learning to do myself, so I can't really give much more advice than that. =p

I see I see. And to be honest, most of the pics I have of this guy leave his face dark. The lighting was all natural. I used a flash, but to little avail. His hair usually blocks most of the light. I photoshop dogded his face a little, but, yeah, I can see where you are coming from.
